ToggleProject Overview
The Grand Astorian is a prestigious, heritage-listed 1930s cinema and live theater in London that caters to high-profile film premieres and West End productions. The restoration demanded an ultra-luxurious, historically accurate aesthetic paired with modern commercial safety compliance.
The Challenge
The architects required a highly complex, classic Victorian floral and damask pattern that perfectly matched archival photos from 1935. Standard tufted commercial carpets could not replicate the depth of color or the historic precision required. Furthermore, the UK building codes required strict Euroclass fire ratings (Bfl-s1) for public theaters.
The QIANQIAO Solution
Leveraging our advanced electronic Axminster weaving looms, QIANQIAO Cinema Carpet accurately reproduced the 7-frame heritage design using premium, sustainably sourced New Zealand wool blended with high-grade nylon.
Exceptional Detail: The precise yarn-dyeing technology ensured zero color bleeding, capturing the rich crimsons, deep golds, and emerald greens of the historic theater.
Aviation-Grade Fire Safety Expertise: Drawing from our long-standing technical experience in manufacturing fire-retardant flooring, the QIANQIAO engineering team customized the yarn formulation to achieve the prestigious EN 13501-1 Bfl-s1 rating, guaranteeing minimal smoke production and exceptional flame resistance.
The Result
The restoration was hailed as a massive success by the local heritage council. The QIANQIAO theater room flooring provided a soft, plush underfoot experience for high-end guests while meeting all European commercial fire safety regulations seamlessly.
