The Design Narrative: Beyond Symbolism
Most luxury hotels in historic regions fall into the trap of literal representation. For the Fairmont Xiamen, Qianqiao sought a “Multi-Dimensional Cultural Perception System.” We didn’t just place images of tea leaves or pottery on the floor; we captured their essence.
A. The Tea Culture Thread (Fluidity and Aroma)
Tea is the heartbeat of Xiamen. Our designers translated the “steeping of tea” into visual gradients. The movement of tea leaves in hot water inspired the fluid, organic patterns found in the grand ballrooms, where colors shift from deep amber to light gold, mimicking the clarity and warmth of a premium brew.
B. The Celadon Craftsmanship Thread (Glaze and Texture)
Fujian’s Celadon (Green Porcelain) is world-renowned for its “jade-like” finish. To replicate this, we utilized high-luster silk fibers within the wool blends. The subtle “crackle glaze” patterns of ancient porcelain were reimagined as delicate geometric networks in the corridors and guest suites, offering a sense of historical depth through modern abstraction.

In high-impact areas like the main lobby and the tea lounge, we installed 3,000m² of custom Hand-Tufted Carpets.
3D Sculpting: Our artisans used varying pile heights to create a topographical map of Fujian’s tea mountains underfoot.
Material Luxury: By blending New Zealand wool with botanical silk, we achieved a “wet-look” sheen that mirrors the glazed surface of fine Celadon.
Seamless Artistry: Each piece was custom-fitted to the architectural curves of the Fairmont, ensuring no visible seams broke the visual flow.
High-Density Axminster Carpets (Ballrooms & Corridors)
For the 7,000m² of corridors and event spaces, Axminster was the definitive choice for its legendary durability.
Intricate Weaving: The Axminster looms allowed for the precise execution of the “Crackle Glaze” aesthetic, maintaining pattern integrity across massive surfaces.
Acoustic Engineering: In the ballroom, the heavy-duty Axminster weave provides superior sound absorption, essential for high-profile Xiamen Airlines corporate events and gala weddings.
